Teaching Math Through Robotics...Introducing Sphero and Ollie!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Seeking a way to assess students’ understanding of integer operations, a math teacher and librarian at Worcester Academy collaborated to develop a lesson using the programmable robots Sphero and Ollie. The presenters used the Tickle app to create sample math expressions and demonstrate them for students. Students observed the movements of the robots and explained the math concepts the robots were demonstrating. Following a class discussion and brief introduction to the Tickle app, students were asked to use Tickle, Sphero, and Ollie to create their own demonstration for a series of math expressions.
